Many of us rely on our air conditioning systems to make our homes more comfortable. Modern air conditioning runs efficiently thanks to a number of complex mechanical and electronic components. One of the least understood parts is the compressor, and in this article, we will take a closer look at how it works.
The compressor is almost like the heart of your Samsung air conditioning system, and it cannot function without it. If you have a split air conditioner, the compressor will be located in the outdoors unit on the side of your home. The compressor circulates the refrigerant that is necessary for the heat exchange that occurs through the coils of your indoor and then outdoor unit. The main reason to supply electricity to your system is to ensure that your compressor is running and your fans are working.
The compressor is powered by a motor, and in fact, it is actually built as a kind of motor. The compressor has both a cylinder and a piston that are needed to compress the refrigerant gas in your system. Compressing the refrigerant causes a rise in the temperature changing it into a high pressure gas. The increase in pressure is needed to force the refrigerant through the line and into the outdoor coil where it can release heat. The refrigerant then condenses back into a liquid continuing back into the indoor unit where it evaporates back into a gas to absorb the heat that is located in your home. The compressor is essential in circulating the refrigerant effectively and can circulate in reverse to heat a home in some systems.
As we can see, a compressor is an essential part of your system and if it fails the air conditioning will not work. Over time a buildup of dirt, dust, and debris can cause a compressor to become clogged up and eventually it will be stuck. At this point, a compressor will usually need to be replaced entirely. Another common problem is a leak in the attached connectors which can cause a loss of refrigerant. At first, less refrigerant will simply make the system less efficient, but eventually, the compressor will be damaged. A regular Samsung air conditioning service is a great way to ensure that your system is working correctly and ready for the heating or cooling season ahead.
